Fragmented Beauty - Karen Kettering Dimit Solo Show

Karen Dimit is an accomplished mosaicist, sculptor and artist who maintains a studio in LIC. She notably helped to found the LIC Arts Open with Richard Mazda in 2011.

This is a first major solo show in Queens for Ms Dimit who will be showing inspirational paintings from the past alongside sculptures which have not been shown in Qns before and all combined with her stunning signature Mosaic sculptures and other works.

The reception on September 12th will also serve as a book launch for a superb volume that Karen has designed herself. The book has sections on all the various media that Karen employs and is illustrated by photos taken by the artist.

Works of all kinds shine in LIC Arts Open shows

“Ashes to Gold: The Alchemy of Caroline Bergonzi,” a solo art exhibit of some of her works, is now on view at the LIC Arts Open Gallery at The Factory in Long Island City, one of two fascinating attractions running concurrently in the former furniture warehouse. Both exhibits, curated by Richard Mazda, will remain on view through Sept. 6.

Across the lobby is the other exhibition, “Burn This,” which features the works of some five dozen artists and was inspired by one of them, David Sena. The title was taken from a play of the same name by Lanford Wilson. Sena employs fireworks in his art, using them to make marks on paper, part of a process he has been practicing for 22 years.
