Thomas grew up in California where her mother fostered her passion for art, in particular, jewelry making. Thomas attended NYU and received a BFA with a concentration in sculpture. During her time in college, her mom passed away and Thomas started a series of site specific sculptures tackling the anger of grief, illness in the home and loss.
