Artist Bio:
I was born in New York City in 1954 and grew up in Woodside, Queens, across the street from a crowded, noisy playground. It is the memory of this same playground at twilight, empty yet resonant with the power of silence, that has inspired in me a lifetime of work. I received a BFA in Sculpture from Pratt Institute (1981), a CAPS Grant for Sculpture (1983) and a Pollock Krasner Grant (1989) along with a residency at Millay Art Colony (1994). I've exhibited in various venues in the metropolitan area, including the Brooklyn Museum and the Queens Museum, the Carter Burden Gallery, and in Long Island. I recently relocated my studio practice to Long Island City.

Artist Statement:
As a conceptual artist, I invite a play of thoughts on the familiar. And it is this very sense of play in its most dramatic sense that has directed my work. My sculptures are metaphors, for my own personal history, for the objects I grew up with, for the memories they gave me. It is by pursuing this most intimate of subject matter that I have found a universal note of engagement.
