Her educational life traversed three degrees in the arts, several in-depth healing disciplines, and her professional life has careened over countless jobs in the arts. She recently resigned as the School Director at Alpha Workshops Studio School to focus exclusively on her fine and decorative painting, opening the Cannon Fine Arts Studio at 34-01 38th Avenue, Long Island City, NY. She is also in the process of publishing her memoir My Years with Ahmed Yacoubi; a Story of Art, Love, and Tests of Faith. Artist Statement: Although an artist since childhood, it wasn't until studying energy healing that Carol Cannon discovered the key to freedom from conceptual ideas and began giving clear voice to her own expressive energy. Through attunement to silence, inner feelings, music, or the qualities of the natural elements, her hand, ink and brush give expression to the vital but unseen. With a background in Illustration and years of Decorative Painting, Carol found "big brush painting" could give vent to a range of deep, powerful emotions to the most refined and delicate of feelings, if listened to carefully. With her own hand-made brushes and ink, combined with the principles of universal energy healing, she has been experimenting with an open method of painting that fulfills Cannon's desire to render the invisible forces surrounding and comprising us.
