Artist Statement:
Landscapes have long been the overt or implied subject of my art. When much younger my thinking about landscape was formed by contradictory philosophies: 1. the traditional Chinese belief that humans were insignificant in view of the powers of nature and 2. the American sense of individual freedom and the conquering of frontiers.

I have come to question all of the above and continue to develop my own interpretations and views regarding our interconnection with nature, most recently in ceramic sculpture.
