Medium: Mixed Media Studio Location: 11-27 44th Road - Studio# 4 Email: vitajemina@gmail.com Website:: jeminavita.com Artist Bio: Jemina Vita, born in Jackson Heights, New York, is an artist that works with a wide range of mediums including photography, painting, sculpture, and multimedia. . Her multidisciplinary Bachelor of Fine Arts is from the Fashion Institute of Technology and has been a member of the Art Student's League for more than 10 years. She has had been involved with a number of group and solo exhibitions within NYC and the surrounding area. Her work has been displayed in the windows of Bergdorf Goodman, the Studio Museum in Harlem, the Chambers Fine Art Gallery, and the M55 gallery among others. Her work has also been included in private collections at the Cafesjian Museum of Contemporary Art in Yerevan, Armenia. She currently lives and works in Long Island City where she subsequently refines her own visual and conceptual vocabulary through her focus on the points of intersection between sculpture, mixed media and sound. Artist Statement: I am interested in the struggle between finding a stability or a support system, then coming to terms with the illusion of its existence. My materials show this struggle as I juxtapose tangible or intangible notions of fragility within constructs that seem to fundamentally serve as permanent systems. With a process of decollage, building then ruining, temporality to permanence, recognition and identifying, a truth that comes from differentiating conditioning from actuality is the interconnected lattice that weaves my work together.
