Artist Statement:
Nichole Washington's work is an exploration of feminine strength, identity and spirituality. She creates super-heroine characters that exist in an imagined space filled with her unique symbols. These symbols are used as a secret form of communication as well as protection. She takes influence from personal challenges, dreams and meditations and brings these narratives into her imagined world in order to heal.

Using photography and paint allows her to blend real life and fantasy. Her symbols layered with expressive brush strokes create a multidimensional space that gives room for nuance and transformation. She hopes to persuade viewers to look beyond the surface and have an introspective experience.
