I received a M.F.A from The University of Wisconsin in 1986 and a B.A. from the University of Massachusetts. I have been living in New York City for 38 years..I am originally from Western Massachusetts. Artist Statement: My painting technique involves transferring cut out images onto canvas using gloss medium. First I make a small collage from newspaper pictures I have collected. I enlarge the collage on a copy machine and tape it together to the size of the canvas. Next I tape the enlarged collage onto several layers of painted and printed sheets of paper. I cut the images out and transfer them to the canvas in different combinations. I usually make a series of paintings from one collage image. All images and text copyright Mark Klemer
