She grew up in New York City now living in Woodside, Queens. She attended various art institutions such as Cooper Union and The School of Visual Arts, obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Fine Art there. Her influences are Jenny Saville, Cindy Sherman, Lucian Freud, John Singer Sargent, Dorothea Lange, Diane Arbus and Cecil Beaton just to name a few. Sarah relies heavily on the emotion of the beholder. "If you feel something when you look into the eyes of one of my girls, then I did what I had hoped to do", says she.
